Because I'm Back in the Habit!
Why, you might ask, did you decide to start doing this after the hiatus the past few months? Well, let me tell you. Apparently, the rugby team is going to DC in March and they happen to be short on players (I guess there is another Hanks wedding that same weekend or something). In addition to that fact, my good friend Emma can be pretty convincing about getting me to come out of retirement.
So, it is time to shake up the rust off these leggz and get back into things. The blogg seemed like a pretty good catalyst considering that the title was derived from the past few years on the rugby team.
You see, rugby is an exhausting 80 mins of continuous running. 1 half time, no time outs, no subs. Its like a football game, but instead of stopping every down for a 30 second break, we get up and keep going. Like any sport, constant communication is important to make plays work and get people in the right places. The thing is, as the clock ticks on, talking becomes less of remembered task because your body is just worn down. I combat this by removing any mental filter, and spilling any thought in my head out of my mouth.
Turns out most of my thoughts are to motivate my body to keep going. My teammates laugh at me because you can usually hear me muttering "Come on leggz, get to the break down", "Let's go leggz, your teammates need you there", or my favorite "Alright leggz, big jump. Get up."
They laugh, but also tell me these mutterings motivate them too. And that's what I do well, motivate others around me. So, it's off to DC, and by then I'll be fit enough to keep up, at least a little.
Not really sure the schedule for the next workouts, but I'll keep you in the loop as things move forward.
